With a solid background in education and technology, I deliver mobile and web development, programming and design training to advanced level, specialising in Mobile, ECMAScript, Python and other high-end courses.

Based in the UK I travel most of the world training people to solve problems and to own the solution. My wealth of real-life experience makes for lively and responsive courses that genuinely meet people's needs.

Web Stack

Over twenty years I’ve trained thousands of people to engage with emerging technologies, understanding important precepts like efficient, performant, manageable code.

I have plenty of experience with modern client-side programming techniques and design patterns, including Object-Oriented ECMAScript and TypeScript.

I trained all through the development of NodeJS, first as part of MEAN courses, and increasingly as the go-to tool chain for automated development in Angular and ReactJS (with or without Redux).

I’m convinced that testing code leads to better outcomes so take every opportunity to include unit and end-to-end testing as part of course delivery.

Mobile

I continue to deliver native Android and iOS, as well as Ionic, React Native and Cordova.

Also

On the server side I’m well up on Java, PHP and all the popular SQL and NoSQL databases. My Python courses span data analysis, research, automation and Django. In addition I train Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat Professional, LiveCycle Designer, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Experience Manager. I've been an Adobe Certified Instructor since 2002.

Clearly any trainer needs to be grounded in real work so I take on development projects to keep the training sharp.

I matriculated from Cambridge University with a degree in Physics with Education in 1983.

I am married to Lisa and we have two fantastic children. I’ve always involved myself in the local community, as a school governor, director of a local youth charity, and volunteer for several local charities. DIY, cars, arduino and other computers keep me busy.
